Separating is a lot to carry. You do not have to carry it on your own.

Divorce comes with a mountain of admin at exactly the moment you have the least capacity for it. The forms, the decisions and the "where do I even start" can all land at once.

Where are you right now?

Most people going through a separation are in one of three places.

  • Thinking about it. Pre-separation planning is about what you will need to know, gather and decide before you say anything, so you start from a steadier place.
  • In the middle of it. This is the paperwork, the deadlines and the "what happens next". It helps to have someone sort it with you so nothing slips.
  • Out the other side. This is the time to rebuild: confidence, boundaries, what you want now, and a life that fits again.

Start with the practical bits

Practical first, feelings allowed. A good first month looks something like this:

  • Gather the paperwork
  • Know your money
  • Protect the basics
  • Keep the children's week steady
  • Get proper advice before you agree anything
  • Tell the people who need to know
  • Look after yourself like it matters

Get organised, and stay organised

As the Divorce PA, I help you work out what to gather, what to fill in, what to ask your solicitor or mediator, and what is coming next. I am not a solicitor and I do not give legal advice. I make sure you walk into those conversations prepared, and that nothing important falls through the gaps.

And the part that is not paperwork

Divorce, separation and rebuilding after relationship change is a big part of my coaching work. Coaching gives you space to pause, untangle what is going on, and work out what you actually want next. Practical next steps, not vague advice.

If you would like the checklist, it is free on the site: the first 30 days after separation, in the order you will need them. And if you are not sure what you need yet, start with a free What Now? call. Thirty minutes, no pressure, no pitch.

General information only, not legal or financial advice.
